Sydney’s crime beamed live to police using city’s 99 CCTV cameras

WHEN a man armed with a sawn-off shotgun was caught on CCTV loitering outside Hungry Jacks in Darlinghurst last year, police were tipped off just in time to foil an armed robbery.

Nearby police sped to the scene and arrested the balaclava-clad man before he was able to hold up the fast food restaurant.

The crime was one of an increasing number that are being caught on camera in real-time and beamed ‘live’ to police to help them catch crooks in the act.
